Basura Espacial – pela limpeza do lixo espacial
Existem mais de 750 mil pedaços de detrito (lixo) na órbita terrestre. Todo esse lixo é gerado por satélites desativados (e que acabam sendo abandonados lá em cima), missões que ao passar pela região soltam alguma parte das naves, e esses próprios pedaços acabam se desfazendo em centenas de outros.
A previsão é que em 2030, sejam mais de 2,5 milhões de pedaços de lixo flutuando na nossa atmosfera. Este cenário torna mais próxima a Síndrome de Kessler.

A Síndrome de Kessler (Donald J. Kessler, consultor da NASA) propõe que o volume de detritos espaciais na órbita terrestre baixa é tão grande nos dias de hoje que os objetos colocados em órbitas são frequentemente atingidos por esses, criando assim outros detritos e um maior risco de futuros impactos. A implicação desse cenário é que a crescente quantidade de detritos em órbita pode evoluir até afetar a exploração espacial, e até mesmo o uso de satélites, inviabilizando futuros lançamentos por várias gerações.

Inconformados com o cenário nada promissor, os argentinos Bernardo Charadia, Santiago Colombo, Lara Fernandez Nuñez e Florentina Gajate criaram o projeto Basura Espacial.
Dividido nestas 4 etapas, o objetivo é atingir uma regulamentação sobre a atividade espacial, com leis que regulem o impacto que causamos no espaço e iniciativas para acabar com o lixo espacial já existente.
O público-alvo definido foram as pessoas com alto grau de dependência de tecnologia, que tenham uma visão otimista sobre o futuro. Todos aqueles que estiverem dispostos a refletir e tomar alguma atitude.
Para atingir o público, definiram que fariam uso de uma linguagem informal e comum nas redes sociais, com apoio de ícones e emojis.
A identidade visual também conta com um tom de azul forte, que lembra a cor azul padrão de hiperlinks em sites na década de 90.
