O fotógrafo americano Tim Tadder foi chamado para tirar fotos promocionais do National Senior Games. E contou um pouco de como foi essa experiência para ele.
Eu tento retratar as pessoas de um jeito que eu sinta que, pra mim, sua força e poder. Seja um maratonista de 89 anos de idade ou um MVP da NFL com 22 anos, eu não os abordo de maneira diferente. Enquanto a casca pode ser mais velha, o espírito é destemido.
Pelo estereótipo, envelhecer não é algo que é visto como poderoso e forte, foi um desafio que eu abracei quando fui chamado para capturar o espírito dos atletas competindo no National Senior Games, da Humana. Em 2003, eu fotografei Gordie Shields, um atleta senior olímpico como parte de um projeto pessoal. A foto criada para Gordie ajudou a impulsionar a minha carreira, então quando a oportunidade de retratar os atletas senior, eu agarrei a oportunidade.
Com pelo menos dois dias na sala de conferências de um hotel, eu estive excessivamente inspirado pela paixão e energia dos atletas. Falar que fiquei surpreso seria diminuir o impacto que sofri, e fiquei motivado para melhorar minha própria força e meu nível de atividades físicas. As histórias que os atletas compartilharam e as conexões que fizeram com as lentes me deixaram cheio de energia para dominar o mundo.
